Then one hot day in June while watching my brother reloading and making his own shot gun shells, I noticed he was using a material that was light weight, but ground up. I asked him what it was and he said," It is cork.” I asked if the product was water proof, he smiled and said, "It will float." I asked if I could buy at least a couple of pounds from him and he said, "Yes, but what are you going to use it for?" I smiled and said, "I may have come up with a special breast form after all."
I was determined to make me the best breast form ever at least I knew it would be lighter to wear. I purchase some fabric to make the lining and then rushed home so that evening I could start cutting out the new lighter weight breast form that would fit my type of surgery. Oh, I was so excited everything seemed to just fall into place. Several hours later my breast form was done and I still had plenty of ground cork left over. I put the unused cork in a jar and put it on the shelf just in case I needed it someday. Now it was time to try the form on. I smiled, it was light weight and the size was just right. The new breast form fit great. I couldn't ask for anything any better. I was as proud as a peacock. Looking from the outside of my T-Shirt you couldn’t tell I had ever had surgery.
Several weeks later our family was invited to go swimming at my daughter’s girlfriend’s motel. (The people were from India and they spoke very little English) We all decided to take them up on the offer even my mother decided to come along. I felt good about the new breast form it had done real well these past two weeks. I put on a large T-Shirt and a pair of shorts and we were off to the water. It had been really hot that week so swimming was going to feel great.
When arriving at the motel swimming pool there were lots of people in the deep end of the pool so my family and I decided to go in where the children were at the other end. I had told my family that I had not been swimming with the new breast form yet and I wanted to make sure it would stay put before doing any diving or jumping around in the pool. We had been in the pool for about ten minutes throwing a beach ball back and forth when all of a sudden I felt like my bra and T-Shirt was getting too small. We were all shocked to see what happened next. My bra became so tight I couldn't breathe; my T-Shirt on the one side was so full it looked like I was filled to my neck with a huge growth. I tried to unhook my bra but there was no way to get my fingers under the band to unhook it. My breast form had swollen up so much and was still swelling. The entire breast cavity was full and still getting bigger. I will never forget the looks on my family’s faces as their eyes were budging from their heads like my swollen breast form from my chest.
To make things even worse my daughter’s friend and their family who spoke very little English keep staring and talking in a language which we could not understand. Everyone started getting excited as I was trying to get out of the pool and get a towel around me, which was next to impossible.
Finally, my husband was able to cut my bra off and my breast form that had grown to the size of a large basket ball was pulled out and when he laid it on the table it was so huge people stood and just stared. The breast form was still slowly enlarging and had broken all of the seams in the lining that held the cork material. I couldn't believe my eyes.
Oh, how embarrassed I was, I wanted to run away and hide, but all I could do was cry. Then a large crowd of people gathered around and I could not move. I keep the towel over my head and sat in the chair and didn't come out until everyone left the swimming pool. While under the towel I heard comments like; "What in the world is happening?" "What is that thing?" "What happen to her real breast?" "Mommy, why is that lady blowing up?" "Is this lady like a monster?" "I bet she has a health problem?" "What is that stuff coming out of the cloth and why is it getting bigger?" "I bet that thing weighs 10 pounds?" The owners of the motel tried to talk to us but nobody knew what each of them was saying.
My daughter’s friend tried to explain to her parents what had happened and they all began laughing. Later that evening they invited us into their house where we sat and shared a meal from India.
I guess you might say the moral to this story is sometimes what you think you have you don't, and if you have not tested something at home first don't try it out in public. The breast form was comfortable when dry but it was not the right material to use for swimming. Yes, cork floats but it swells faster than anything I have ever seen. This is one day my family and I won't ever forget. It wasn't funny when it was happening, but the memories of that day now make us laugh until we cry.

FATHERS DAY SALUTE
Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there. A Father is a privilege. A good father is a reward in it's self to be admired and honored. Last month I did a survey on Mothers Day which proved to be very interesting this month the survey is for all you Father's. Sometimes being able to read what our children think and say about us is worth its weight in gold. The question was, How would you describe your Father and what have you learned from him.
1.) Dad is strong he can open up Mom's jar lids, he says don't say bad words on Sunday.
2.) Dad is big; he eats a lot to stay healthy and works hard so he can pay the bills for all of us.
3.) My Father is quite he doesn't talk much, but if he is mad his temper really comes out fast.
4.) Dad is my friend and best buddy; we go fishing, hunting and sometimes just take short walks to talk.
5.) My Father works all the time I really don't see him much, when I do he pats the top of my head and says hi.
6.) I don't know who my Father is Mom says I have one but I have never seen him. Maybe someday I will.

13.) My Dad was never there for me, he treated my Mother terrible, she still loves him. I don't want to be like him.

15.) Dad taught me how to respect others and always be kind; I now am raising my children the same way.
16.) Dad was always helping others; he always made time for Mom and us kids. We miss him, but he is with God now.
17.) Father taught me how to do for myself and save money. He was always good to us and listened to our thoughts.
18.) Dad has been sick most of his life, but never pushed us away. His smile and hugs were worth a million bucks.
19.) Dad has always worked hard; he loves to build things and has taught us the values needed in life. We love him.
20.) I never spent much time with my dad; he never listened to us children but did hit on us all the time. He shouldn't really have children.
21.) True love, admiration and a big salute to my Father a kind loving man with respect and a heart of gold. Thanks!
Here you have it, messages from the heart. How do we as adults correct the things that may not be right or fix the things that make us and our children who or what we are today? Was the yesterday's so bad we won't or can't help fix the tomorrow's I don't think so? Parenting is hard and life is so short. I believe that the things we teach early in life will later be what we will reap. Love and respect is not for just a few, it should be for everyone. See you next month with more. Moments with Mary.
